Hobbitville.com is being created and managed with software from NetObjects, specifically NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1. While no tool can do everything, this hobbit is happy so far ... and definitely wouldn't want to tackle a project of Hobbitville.com´s size and complexity without automated help. (The 4.0 version is less than $50!)
Hobbitville.com is remotely hosted by TigerTech.com for only $5 per month which included Hobbitville.com´s domain registration fee! The web based administration tools and reports are more than adequate. Plus, they provided excellent and timely service when Hobbitville´s Free E-mail service was integrated. TigerTech´s services provide the Password Protection feature of Hobbitville´s Members section as well as the basic e-mail aliasing/forwarding capabilities.
Search is provided through Atomz.com. Their search service provides highly customizable local search capabilities for the Hobbitville.com website. Your website can be re-indexed automatically or on demand by using their web based administration tools. They also provide excellent reporting on the searches made at Hobbitville so that you can "tune" the service.
Free E-mail, Community Message Boards and Chat Services are provided by Everyone.net. These services are highly customizable and can be easily integrated into a website. The services provided are commercial strength, generally on par with other web portals such as Hotmail or Yahoo.
The Form on the Contact Page is serviced by a Form Server supplied by Escati.com, a third party commercial website. The Form itself is just HTML developed from an Escati example and placed on the page. The submitted information is e-mailed back to Hobbitville.
Hobbitville hopes to use it´s Affiliate status to generate a few coins through the commercial links on the Sponsor Page. Each of these links represents some kind of registration or affiliation by Hobbitville. When such a link is followed, information is passed along identifying Hobbitville as the source of the originating click. Subsequently, Hobbitville may get a commission or other reward for having provided the business. There are many affiliate programs and networks.
